มักมีคนเคยถามผมเกี่ยวกับคำว่าผู้นำ เช่น ผู้นำสามารถสร้างได้หรือไม่ , อะไรคือ ตัวกำหนดความเป็นผู้นำ , ผู้นำหมายถึงอะไร , ถ้าหน่วยงานไม่มีผู้นำอะไรจะเกิดขึ้น ฯลฯ ในบทความฉบับนี้ เราจะมาแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้กันกับคำว่าผู้นำ
คำว่า “ผู้นำ” มีความหมายที่แตกต่างกันไปหรือบางคนอาจให้ความหมายที่คล้ายคลึงกัน ทั้งนี้แล้วแต่ใครที่จะนิยาม เช่น
-พจนานุกรมฉบับของราชบัณฑิตยสถานได้ให้ความหมายของคำว่า “ ผู้นำ ” คือ หัวหน้า , คนชักจูงให้คนอื่นทำตาม
-อานันท์ ปันยารชุน ได้ให้ความหมายว่า “ ผู้นำ” คือ ผู้ที่คนอื่นอยากเดินตาม
– บุญทัน ดอกไธสง ได้สรุปคำว่า ผู้นำ (Leader) คือ
- ผู้มีอิทธิพล มีศิลปะ มีอิทธิพลต่อกลุ่มชน เพื่อให้พวกเขามีความตั้งใจที่จะปฏิบัติงานให้บรรลุเป้าหมายตามต้องการ
- เป็นผู้นำและแนะนำ เพราะผู้นำต้องคอยช่วยเหลือกลุ่มให้บรรลุเป้าหมายสูงสุดตามความสามารถ
- ผู้นำไม่เพียงแต่ยืนอยู่เบื้องหลังกลุ่มที่คอยแต่วางแผนและผลักดัน แต่ผู้นำจะต้องยืนอยู่ข้างหน้ากลุ่ม และนำกลุ่มปฏิบัติงานให้บรรลุเป้าหมาย
สำหรับคุณสมบัติของผู้นำที่ดีนั้น มีดังนี้
1.ผู้นำที่ดีต้องมีเป้าหมาย เป้าหมายเป็นสิ่งที่สำคัญและมีความจำเป็นต่อความสำเร็จ ถ้าหากไม่มีเป้าหมายหรือทิศทาง จะทำให้ผู้นำและผู้ตามเกิดความสับสน ดังนั้นหากท่านได้รับความไว้วางใจให้เป็นผู้นำ ท่านจงกำหนดเป้าหมายหรือทิศทางให้ชัดเจน เพื่อท่านและผู้ตามในองค์กรของท่านจะได้ก้าวเดินไปในทิศทางเดียวกัน
2.ผู้นำที่ดีต้องมีคุณธรรม ทั้งทางด้านความประพฤติ การปฏิบัติ ซึ่งหลักธรรมตามพุทธศาสนา ที่ผู้นำสามารถนำไปปรับใช้ได้คือ พรหมวิหาร 4 (เมตตา,กรุณา,มุทิตาและอุเบกเขา) อีกทั้งผู้นำที่ดีต้องให้ความเป็นธรรมแก่ผู้ตามหรือลูกน้อง ซึ่งอาจจะมีปัญหาบ้างในทางปฏิบัติเนื่องจากสังคมไทยเป็นสังคมอุปถัมภ์การทำ งานจึงมีระบบเส้นสาย
3.ผู้นำที่ดีต้องมีความคิดที่ริเริ่มสร้างสรรค์ ในโลกยุคปัจจุบันเป็นโลกยุคของการแข่งขัน การเป็นผู้นำสมัยปัจจุบันจึงต้องพบกับการแข่งขันที่เป็นไปอย่างรุนแรงและรวด เร็ว การที่ผู้นำไม่ยอมเปลี่ยนแปลงหรือไม่ยอมรับต่อสิ่งใหม่ๆ ผู้นำคนนั้นก็มักจะล้าหลัง ฉะนั้นผู้นำในยุคปัจจุบันจึงต้องมีความคิดที่ริเริ่มสร้างสรรค์สิ่งแปลกๆ ใหม่ๆ ขึ้นมา
4.ผู้นำที่ดีต้องกล้าตัดสินใจ การเป็นผู้นำมักต้องมีเรื่องให้ตัดสินใจเสมอ หากผู้นำตัดสินใจผิดพลาดก็มักจะทำให้องค์กรหรือหน่วยงานเกิดความเสียหาย แต่ถึงอย่างไรก็ตาม แม้จะตัดสินใจถูกหรือตัดสินใจผิด การเป็นผู้นำก็ต้องกล้าตัดสินใจทำสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่งลงไป
- ผู้นำที่ดีต้องทุ่มเท มุ่งมั่นในการทำงาน การเป็นผู้นำจะต้องเสียสละ ในบางครั้งการเป็นผู้นำจะต้องทำงานมากกว่าคนอื่นหรือทำงานหนักกว่าคนอื่นๆ สำหรับผู้นำบางคนที่ไม่ทุ่มเท ไม่มุ่งมั่นในการทำงาน ผู้นำคนนั้นมักขาดเป้าหมาย อีกทั้งมีความเห็นแก่ตัวในการทำงาน
6.ผู้นำที่ดีต้องมีมนุษย์สัมพันธ์ การเป็นผู้นำมีความจำเป็นจะต้องทำงานร่วมกับผู้ตามหรือลูกน้อง กล่าวคือต้องทำงานร่วมกับคนที่มีความหลากหลาย ผู้นำที่มีมนุษย์สัมพันธ์จึงเป็นผู้นำที่ผู้ตามหรือลูกน้อง รักและอยากทำงานด้วย การเอาใจใส่ผู้อื่น การไม่มีความเย่อหยิ่งถือตัว จะสร้างเสน่ห์ให้แก่ผู้นำ
7.ผู้นำที่ดีต้องมีการประเมินผล ติดตามงาน ผู้นำที่ดีจะต้องรู้จักควบคุม ประเมินผล ติดตามงาน หากผู้นำได้ตัดสินใจสั่งการไปแล้ว แล้วไม่มีการประเมินผล ติดตาม ก็อาจจะเกิดความเสียหาย เนื่องจากผู้ตามบางคนได้กระทำเกินเลยหรือผู้ตามบางคนอาจละเว้นการกระทำ จึงทำให้เกิดความเสียหายต่อองค์กรได้ ผู้นำที่ดีจึงต้องรู้จักประเมินผล ติดตามการทำงาน
ทั้งหมดข้างต้นนี้เป็นคุณสมบัติบางประการที่ผู้นำที่ดีควรมีอยู่ในตัวเอง คุณก็สามารถเป็นผู้นำที่ดีได้ เพียงแต่ลงมือทำแล้วแก้ไขพัฒนาตนเอง อย่างไม่หยุดยั้ง ท่านก็จะเป็นอีกคนหนึ่งที่ผู้ตามให้การยอมรับ

เคยมีคนตั้งคำถามว่า ทำไมคนบางคนถึงทำงานได้มากมาย แต่ทำไมคนส่วนใหญ่จึงทำงานได้น้อย อีกทั้งมักไม่ค่อยมีคุณภาพอีกต่างหาก ยกตัวอย่างเช่น พลตรี หลวงวิจิตรวาทการ ท่านสร้างผลงานต่างๆได้อย่างมากมายมหาศาล ไม่ว่าจะเป็นงานประพันธ์หนังสือเป็นจำนวนมาก เช่น หนังสือเรื่องกุศโลบาย , วิธีทำงานและสร้างอนาคต ,มหาบุรุษ,มันสมอง เป็นต้น
สำหรับงานในชีวิตราชการท่านได้รับตำแหน่งต่างๆ มากมาย เช่น ตำแหน่งข้าราชการกระทรวงต่างประเทศ ,รัฐมนตรีและอธิบดีกรมศิลปากร,รัฐมนตรี ว่าการกระทรวงการคลัง เป็นต้น ซึ่งบุคคลที่ทำงานได้ดีและมีผลงานเป็นจำนวนมากนั้น จะต้องเป็นคนที่ทำงานหนัก ทำงานเก่ง ทำงานรวดเร็ว สำหรับพลตรี หลวงวิจิตรวาทการ เป็นตัวอย่างในเรื่องของการทำงานได้เป็นอย่างดี โดยท่านสามารถทำงานหนักได้นานถึงวันละ 16 ชั่วโมง เลยทีเดียว
สำหรับหลักการทำงานให้ได้ผลงานทั้งคุณภาพและปริมาณนั้น มีดังนี้
1.รู้จักลำดับงาน การรู้จักลำดับงานก็คือการวางแผนนั้นเอง คนที่ทำงานได้ดีนั้นจะต้องเป็นคนที่มีแผนงาน ว่าตนจะทำอะไร เมื่อไร อีกทั้งต้องรู้จักลำดับงานออกเป็นประเภทต่างๆ เช่น งานสำคัญ , งานไม่สำคัญ , งานเร่งด่วน , งานไม่เร่งด่วน แล้วจึงพิจารณาเลือกทำงานให้มีความเหมาะสมกับเงื่อนของเวลา
2.มีวินัยในการทำงาน คนที่ทำงานได้ดีนั้นจะต้องเป็นคนที่มีวินัยในการทำงาน เช่น นักเขียนดังๆ จะต้องมีวินัยในการทำงานเขียน เนื่องจากอาชีพนักเขียนไม่มีเวลาทำงานแน่นอนตายตัว ไม่มีหัวหน้างานคอยมาบังคับ อาชีพนักเขียนจึงเป็นอาชีพอิสระ ดังนั้นจะต้องมีวินัยในการบังคับตัวเองให้เขียน นักเขียนบางคนตั้งกฎกับตัวเองว่าจะต้องเขียนให้ได้วันละ 3 หน้ากระดาษ ทุกวัน ดังนั้น ผลงานของเขาจึงออกมามากมายมหาศาล ถ้าหากว่าเราคิดอย่างง่ายๆ วันละ 3 หน้ากระดาษ 1 เดือนมี 30 วัน เขาจะได้หนังสือ 1 เล่ม ที่มีจำนวนหน้า 90 หน้า และ 1 ปี เขาจะมีงานเขียนถึงจำนวน 12 เล่ม เลยทีเดียว
งานอาชีพอื่นๆก็เช่นกัน บุคคลที่ทำงานดีและเก่งนั้น จะต้องมีวินัยในการทำงาน ทำงานส่งตรงวันเวลาที่เจ้านายหรือลูกค้านัดหมาย
3. มีสมาธิในการทำงาน บุคคลที่ทำงานดี ทำงานเก่ง นั้นจะต้องมีสมาธิในการทำงาน
คำ ว่า “สมาธิ” จากพจนานุกรมไทย ราชบัณฑิตยสถาน หมายถึง ความตั้งมั่นแห่งจิต , ความแน่วแน่ในการสำรวมใจ , การมีจิตเพ่งเล็งแน่วแน่อยู่ในสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่งโดยเฉพาะ,ความตรึกตรองอย่าง เคร่งเครียดในสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่ง
สมาธิจึงเป็นสิ่งสำคัญในการทำงานทุก ประเภท เช่น หากใครมีสมาธิในการอ่านหนังสือก็จะสามารถอ่านหนังสือได้ดีและเร็วกว่าคนไม่ มีสมาธิ , ใครมีสมาธิในการประดิษฐ์สิ่งประดิษฐ์ก็จะสามารถประดิษฐ์ของได้เป็นจำนวนมาก และมีประสิทธิภาพกว่าคนไม่มีสมาธิ ดังเช่น โทมัส อัลวา เอดิสัน สามารถประดิษฐ์สิ่งประดิษฐ์ได้มากมาย ก็เพราะด้วยความที่โทมัส อัลวา เอดิสัน เป็นคนที่มีสมาธินั้นเอง เป็นต้น
4.มีการพักสมองบ้าง การหยุดพักมีความสำคัญไม่ใช่น้อย ร่างกายของคนเราไม่ใช่เครื่องจักรถึงแม้จะเป็นเครื่องจักรก็ตามก็ต้องมีการ หยุดพักเช่นกัน การพักสมอง อาจทำได้โดย
– การเปลี่ยนงานที่ทำ เช่น หากเรามีอาชีพนักเขียน เมื่อทำงานเขียนเป็นเวลานานๆ สมองอาจไม่สดชื่นแจ่มใส ควรเปลี่ยนงานที่ทำโดยการออกไปปลูกต้นไม้ รดน้ำต้นไม้ ไปล้างรถ ทำความสะอาดบ้าน ฯลฯ
– การเปลี่ยนที่ทำงาน เช่น ปกติห้องทำงานเขียนมักอยู่ภายในบ้าน ท่านสามารถนำงานเขียนไปเขียนนอกบ้านบ้าง โดยการออกไปเขียนตามห้องสมุด สวนสาธารณะ ฯลฯ
5.จงสนุกกับการทำงาน จงรักในงานที่ท่านทำ หากว่าเราทำงานด้วยความไม่สนุก หากว่าเราไม่รักในงานที่ทำ งานที่ทำมักทำให้เราเกิดความทุกข์ ในทางตรงกันข้ามถ้าหากเราทำงานด้วยความสนุกงานที่ทำก็จะช่วยให้เราเกิดความ สุขขึ้น จงสนุกกับการทำงานแล้ว ผลงานของท่านจะมีปริมาณมากและคุณภาพของผลก็จะออกมาดีเยี่ยม
ปัจจัยข้าง ต้นนี้ เป็นปัจจัยที่ทำให้เกิดความแตกต่างระหว่างผู้ที่ทำงานได้เก่ง ทำงานได้ดี กับ คนที่ทำงานออกมาแล้วไม่มีประสิทธิภาพ หากว่าท่านต้องการทำงานเก่ง ทำงานได้ปริมาณที่มากทั้งคุณภาพและจำนวน ท่านควรปรับปรุงแก้ไขเปลี่ยนแปลงตนเอง
